Item 8.01 Other Events
On June 20, 2023, Optical Cable Corporation (“OCC”) detected an incident that impacted a portion of its operational and information technology systems. Upon detection of the incident, the Company initiated immediate incident response protocols and determined the incident was a sophisticated cyberattack. As part of its protocols, the Company has undertaken an investigation and engaged containment protocols to mitigate the impact of the incident and engaged internal and third-party cybersecurity and forensics experts to assess any impact on the Company’s systems and utilized additional security measures to help safeguard the integrity of its infrastructure and data contained therein. The Company has notified appropriate federal law enforcement.
The Company is actively managing this incident and will continue to do so. The incident has caused and may continue to cause certain delays in parts of the Company’s business which may result in a deferral or loss of revenue and certain incremental costs. The Company is working to maintain continuity in business operations and to minimize disruption to its customers.
While systems recovery efforts continue, at this time the Company believes it has restored substantially all systems necessary to return to normal business operations.
